Five people died Thursday in Costa Rica in the fire of a hotel in the capital San José, emergency services announced. The fire triggered in the middle of the night on the third and last floor of a downtown hotel, whose roof collapsed, firefighters said in a Facebook publication.
The victims are “a couple of elderly” found “entwined” on a bed and “three other people”, it is specified, without their nationality being specified. An investigation into the causes of the fire was opened by the courts, and the firefighters mentioned that “the rescue exit (from the hotel) had been blocked with wires”.
