by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

“Tokyo Game Show” is known as the world’s largest game trade show. We conducted interviews with cosplayers who participated in “Tokyo Game Show 2025”, which was held in 2025, and who dressed up as characters from various fighting games, old and new. We will send you a report asking them about their “special points” for each cosplay.

We asked cosplayers about their “points of focus when it comes to costumes and makeup”

Speaking of cosplay events, one of the best parts of participating is being able to analyze the anime, manga, games, etc. that are in season at that time through the costumes of the layers that decorate the venue. Nowadays, various cosplay events are held across the country almost every weekend, and all of them are a big hit.

For those who are interested in such events but have not yet participated, we will playback cosplay events held in the second half of 2025. We will post photos of the layers that we took during the interview, along with the “points of focus on cosplay” that we asked each of them.

This article will focus on Tokyo Game Show 2025 (TGS2025), the world’s largest game trade fair, which was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from September 25th to 28th, 2025.

263,101 people visited over the four days. “TGS2025” was a huge success, with 1,136 companies and organizations exhibiting from 47 countries and regions. In keeping with the purpose of the event, one of its distinctive features was the high cosplay rate of game characters.

The recent rise in e-sports seems to be having an impact on the cosplay world, and the outdoor cosplay area features Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury, as well as characters from Street Fighter 6, Guilty Gear, and more. There were long lines to take photos at each location.

“The character has an attractive body, so I worked hard to build up my body by doing muscle training and eating less before the event. The costume is a ready-made item, but I sewed it and made some small adjustments to make it look beautiful on the body.I wanted to show off that my sewing machine was broken, so I tried my best to sew it by hand. Also, this time, to deepen my understanding of the character, I played “Street Fighter 6” using Mai Shiranui. I also imitated her movements.I hope that people who know her can see it and feel that she is cosplaying like Mai-chan, but she is wearing a costume from the Garou Legend version, but she is also wearing a costume from the Street Fighter 6 version. We also make costumes by hand, and we are streaming videos of us playing the game while wearing the costumes. We hope you will come and see us!” (Mai Shiranui/Kitsune Hanako from Garou series)

“As a beginner in cosplay, I tried my best to create accessories (gloves, hair ornaments, fans) to the best of my ability.I’m originally a shy person, but when I was filming Mai-chan, I wanted to express Mai-chan’s innocent and bright personality, so I moved her facial muscles a lot (lol)” (Reika, Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves)

“The most important thing is how to display the yo-yo weapon. For this cosplay, I have undergone special training to be able to actually play the yo-yo. If you don’t have knowledge about the string of a yo-yo, you tend to just put the loop at the end on your finger, but in my case, the way I put the string on my finger is what makes the yo-yo look so good. Another important point to note is that it is in a usable shape! Simple movements can be reproduced using this yo-yo prop. People who have played with the yo-yo say that they understand it, and it is very popular!” (Bridget/ICO from Guilty Gear)

“The most important thing about this cosplay is that I myself am learning capoeira, the martial art used by Elena.I am not very good at it, but I enjoy going to capoeira classes for cosplay. Also, my skin color is lighter than other people, but I worked really hard with self-tanner to get my skin closer to black. Another thing I would like you to pay attention to is the wig. This time, I used a lot of fluffing to make sure it doesn’t get messy even when I kick it or do a handstand.I didn’t do it this time, but I’d like you to take a picture with me in that pose someday!” (Elena/Kisiko from Street Fighter 6)

“Ed wears a jacket with a distinctive design, so this time I focused on ‘reproducing the design’ and started making the costume. The jacket was made from a commercially available item and was made by sewing the fabric from the top.Since I had little experience making costumes, most of the work was sewn by hand, so it was a struggle. However, I was able to give it a shape by focusing on the silhouette and color.I really love the character, so I would like to cosplay it again. In the future, I would like to learn more about costume making and body construction, and improve the quality even more.”(Street Fighter 6 Ed/Mr. Kamakura)
