Aaron Copland’s Third Symphony is a work of majestic landscapes and postwar optimism, culminating in the inspirational Fanfare for the Common Man. Carlos Chávez evokes the rituals and splendor of pre-Columbian Mexico in his Indian symphony. Soloists from the Black chamber music collective D-Composed join the Civic Orchestra for Michael Abels’ Delights & Danceswhich crackles with bluegrass, jazz and Latin dance rhythms.
