Contract Issues & Large Employers: Get Help

by Archynetys Economy Desk

“Biznes Klasa” is a money.pl program available on YouTube. The editorial director, Łukasz Kijek, talks to entrepreneurs – about their lives, business, earnings and many other matters. The guest of the last episode was Paweł Łossowski, president and founder of the EVER Group. The company provides several types of services, including catering, cleaning, security, housekeeping and organizing events. The company also has its own industrial laundry that washes a thousand tons of fabrics a month.

The best businesses grow in silence. These industries will win 2026 – Paweł Łossowski in Business Class

From translations to your first business

– It all started by accident and I think I’m where I am today thanks to chance. I am a Germanist by education and I dealt with translations, I was also a German teacher. It was the beginning of the 1990s, when a lot of people from Germany came to Poland, mainly businessmen. During one such conference, I managed to meet a person who had a very large business in Germany, a medical business. These were rehabilitation clinics, mainly for psoriatic diseases, and this person inspired me to go into business – recalls Paweł Łossowski.

Initially, the cooperation concerned, among others, bringing workers to Germany and construction materials from Poland. Over time, the idea of moving the service outsourcing model to Poland emerged.

The first joint venture did not stand the test of time. – This cooperation did not work out from the very beginning. After a year, we ended our cooperation. The company was liquidated – recalls Łossowski, adding that the reason was differences in the approach to liability and settlements. Since then, he has been running the business on his own.

He started in a studio apartment. Today it employs 10,000. people

The beginnings were humble. – I had my first office, it was my grandmother’s apartment, 27 square meters – he says. He employed one accountant, and he did everything else – from sales and recruitment to operational supervision – himself.

The breakthrough came in 1997 and obtaining the status of a sheltered workshop. – It was a milestone in the company’s development – he says. As he emphasizes, at that time the system provided great financial support, which resulted in a rapid growth of the business. Over time, the regulations were gradually tightened.

Today, the EVER Group is a conglomerate of services and production. – It can be characterized by two basic activities: service and production – explains Łossowski. The company deals with, among others: laundry, housekeeping, real estate technical services, collective catering and outsourcing of production processes. The industrial part is where consumer electronics are assembled, mainly televisions. – The Chinese import components and commission us to assemble them. The finished product is made in Poland, he explains.

The scale of operations is significant. – Last year, the revenue was approximately PLN 800 million. This year we plan to reach PLN 900 million – says the president of the EVER Group. Employment amounts to approximately 10,000. people, and the EBITDA result is approximately 7%, i.e. approximately PLN 60 million.

How is the labor market changing?

– The company is constantly recruiting. We wouldn’t be able to cope without foreigners in services today, says Łossowski. In addition to employees from Ukraine, people from Asia and South America play an increasingly important role, including: from Colombia.

Therefore, according to Łossowski, robotization is to be the answer to rising labor costs. The company invests in autonomous cleaning devices and drones used to protect facilities. – We are replacing security staff with flying drones – he says, describing monitoring systems with thermal cameras and automatic docking stations.

The cheap labor model has exhausted itself

Although the company grew in the context of cheap labor, Łossowski has no doubt that this model has exhausted itself. – In Poland, the minimum wage has increased by almost 280% over the last 10 years, from 2015 to 2025. – he notes. – Saying that we can compete in terms of pay is no longer realistic – he adds.

According to him, an increase in the minimum wage triggers wage pressure and Poland has reached the level of “natural unemployment” (an inevitable level of unemployment occurring even in a healthy labor market in equilibrium – editor’s note). Therefore, it is necessary to organize the migration policy so as to invite qualified workers to Poland, tailored to the needs of the labor market.

What next with civil law contracts?

The government suspended work on the reform of the National Labor Inspectorate, which was to give inspectors the right to transform civil law contracts into employment contracts. Prime Minister Donald Tusk considered these solutions too far-reaching and dangerous for companies, while the Left announced further fight against the “pathology of junk contracts”.

– In my opinion, the only sensible solution is to fully tax all civil law contracts – says Łossowski, emphasizing that only such a model can ensure equal conditions of competition between companies. At the same time, he does not support the abolition of civil law contracts, emphasizing that they serve an important function of flexibility, especially in service industries and during periods of economic slowdown. – It is a matter of creating clear rules of the game, not constantly adding new regulations and controls – he says, emphasizing that excessive casuistry and point-by-point regulations only increase legal chaos and administrative costs for companies.
