In a face-off at Nationals Park on Wednesday, Republican members of Congress triumphed over their Democratic counterparts at the annual Congressional Baseball game.

The GOP secured a 13-2 victory against the Dems, marking the fifth consecutive year that Republicans have emerged victorious in the annual contest.

Rep. Greg steube (R-Fla.), who sustained serious injuries from a ladder accident two years prior, pitched five innings for the GOP, achieving seven strikeouts against the Democrats.

“I am going to take an ice bath tomorrow,” Steube quipped following the game.

The Most Valuable Player award was presented to Rep. August Pfluger (R-Texas), who made a notable diving catch to conclude the first inning after the Democrats had loaded the bases.

Pfluger’s extraordinary play quickly gained traction across social media platforms.

“Proud to have been selected MVP for this year’s Congressional Baseball Game!” the Texas Republican shared on X. “Couldn’t have asked for a better support team here in DC! Another huge win for Republicans.”

This year’s game proceeded wiht fewer disruptions compared to the previous year, which saw anti-Israel demonstrators interrupt the national anthem and climate activists storm the field.

The event saw over 30,000 tickets sold, generating $2.8 million in funds for various charitable organizations.
