Condor Cancels The Eight Flights Scheduled For Today…

by drbyos

The eight flights, arrivals and departures, scheduled for this Thursday operated by Condor Flugdienst, were cancelled. The forecast of bad weather in the Region, namely strong winds that are expected to reach peak intensity this afternoon near Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, led the German airline to cancel all movements planned for today with the Region.

The flights that were supposed to come from Munich, Leipzig, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt did not take off at their origin. The inevitable consequence was also the cancellation of return flights from Madeira.

This brings the number of canceled flights to and from Madeira, which were on today’s schedule, to 14, after TAP, yesterday, canceled three Lisbon – Funchal – Lisbon movements.

The Slovak Parliament Abolished The Special Prosecutors Office

#Slovak #parliament #abolished #special #prosecutors #office

Amendments to the Criminal Code were adopted.

After several days of intense debate, the Bratislava legislature approved the amendment of the Slovak Criminal Code on Thursday evening, as expected.

The opposition boycotted the vote on the proposal, which includes the abolition of the so-called special prosecutor’s office (ÚSP) and the reduction of some punishments.

The amendment to the criminal code was approved by the Bratislava government in December of last year on the grounds that certain items of the criminal laws should be made “more humane” and the ÚSP should be abolished. The latter was justified by the fact that the institution, which was established only a few years ago, is outside the system of the Slovak prosecutor’s office, as well as by the need to remove the prosecutor’s office from the possibility of political influence.

Regarding the latter, the authors of the criticism claim that the ÚSP was used by the governing liberals until the early elections last September to politically disable the current governing parties. The ÚSP has been subject to many criticisms from several quarters,

Pakistan General Election: Delayed Vote Counting Amidst Allegations…

Pakistan General Election: Delayed Vote Counting Amidst Allegations of Vote-Rigging and Unrest

The recent general election in Pakistan has been marred by allegations of vote-rigging and violent unrest, leading to a delay in the vote counting process. The election, which took place on Thursday, saw the suspension of mobile phone services and incidents of violence across the country. As the results slowly trickle in, election officials have urged local officials to expedite the counting process.

The party of Imran Khan, the disqualified and jailed former Prime Minister, has raised concerns about the delay, claiming it is a sign of vote-rigging. Unofficial results on TV channels suggest that Khan’s allies are currently leading in the polls. Khan, who was barred from standing in the election due to corruption charges, had his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), field its candidates as independents. They are challenging the party of another former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, whose younger brother Shehbaz currently leads the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz party (PML-N).

The election saw a total of 128 million registered voters, with nearly half of them being under the age of 35. Over 5,000 candidates contested for 266 directly elected seats in the 336-member National Assembly.

Slow Vote Counting And Unrest Mar Pakistans General…

Votes Counted in Pakistan’s General Election Amidst Mobile Phone Suspensions and Violent Unrest

Votes are being counted in Pakistan after Thursday’s general election, which witnessed the suspension of mobile phone services and outbreaks of violent unrest. The delay in the release of results has raised concerns among election officials, who have urged local authorities to expedite the process.

The party led by disqualified and imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan has alleged that the slow pace of results is indicative of vote-rigging. Unofficial reports from television channels indicate that Khan’s allies are currently leading.

Last year, Khan was barred from running in this election due to corruption charges. Consequently, his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was compelled to field independent candidates on its behalf.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother Shehbaz Sharif, president of the rival Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz party (PML-N), stands as a formidable contender. Two years ago, Shehbaz replaced Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote. Both parties ran for 266 directly elected seats in the 336-member National Assembly; however, a mere 313 female candidates were able to participate out of over 5,000 contenders.

Pakistan’s economic challenges have had a severe impact on millions of citizens – exacerbated further by devastating floods in 2022 – with soaring inflation and increased difficulty meeting financial obligations resulting in escalating violence within society.
