The deleterious effects of mental health conditions are often intensified for immigrants and newly arrived individuals, their families, and their communities.1 Although evidence-based mental health interventions such as psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy exist, access remains limited, and available services often lack cultural and linguistic responsiveness.2,3 Community-based specialists, including community health workers, are uniquely positioned to help seal the gaps in care that marginalised communities, including immigrants, face when interacting with health-care systems.
