A Hercules plane of the Colombian Air Force that was transporting soldiers crashed this Monday a few minutes after taking off from the Puerto Leguízamo airport, in the department of Putumayo – in the south of the country – confirmed the Minister of Defense, Pedro Sánchez Suárez, who did not specify the number of victims. The Colombian newspaper El Tiempo and Radio Caracol, among other media, indicate that more than 100 people were on board.
“It is with deep pain that I report that a Hercules plane from our @FuerzaAereaCol suffered a tragic accident while taking off from Puerto Leguízamo (Putumayo), when it was transporting troops from the Public Force,” the minister stated in his X account.
