‘College GameDay’ returns to Eugene for Oregon vs. USC

ESPN announced Sunday that “College GameDay” is set to feature the Oregon Ducks for the third time this year.
The popular pregame show, hosted by Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit and others, will be in Eugene for No. 8 Oregon’s matchup with No. 17 USC. While “College GameDay” is an ESPN property, CBS will broadcast the game. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. at Autzen Stadium.
“College GameDay” returns to Eugene for the second time this season. The show made its first trip to the Pacific Northwest on Oct. 11 for the Ducks’ matchup — and subsequent 30-20 loss — to Indiana. Oregon’s double-overtime win against Penn State on Sept. 27 was its other appearance on the show.
“College GameDay” last travelled to Eugene twice in a season in 2007, when the Ducks went 9-4. Oregon is 20-14 all-time when featured on “College GameDay” and are 9-4 as the home team.
Oregon (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten) enters Saturday’s matchup fresh off a 42-13 win over Minnesota at home on Friday night. USC (8-2, 6-1 Big Ten) beat No. 20 Iowa, 26-21, at home on Saturday, The Trojans rallied from a 21-10 deficit at halftime and shut out the Hawkeyes in the second half.
Both the Ducks and Trojans are in the thick of the College Football Playoff race.
Oregon’s loss to Indiana, more likely than not, will keep it out of the Big Ten Championship game. Its best opportunity to return to the CFP is to win out. After USC, Oregon faces Washington (7-3, 4-3 Big Ten) in Seattle to close the regular season.
USC is, according to The Athletic“on the bubble” of the CFP bracket. A road win over the Ducks would, likely, position the Trojans for an at-large bid. USC never has qualified for the CFP. Its head coach, Lincoln Riley, did so four-consecutive times as Oklahoma’s head coach. The Trojans will finish their regular season against UCLA (3-7, 3-4 Big Ten) on Nov. 29 at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
