The Ministry of Health of the State of Colima said that multiple risk factors for breast cancer have to do with our unhealthy lifestyle, so avoiding or modifying them helps prevent this malignant tumor, which is the main cause of cancer death in women over 25 years.

These factors that can be modified are to keep a balanced and high fiber diet, to maintain adequate weight, since overweight and obesity, especially after menopause, are associated with a higher risk of this cancer.

The agency said that it is also advisable to carry out a monthly breast self -exploration from 20 years of age; Mama clinical exploration is practiced to women 25 years or older in health centers and a mastography from the age of 40, in Tecomán General Hospital you can request it directly from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the State Cancer Institute from Monday to Friday by appointment at 312 161 3222 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the services are free.

Also, reduce the consumption of sugars and fats; Practicing at least 30 minutes daily, because sedentary lifestyle is another risk factor, and avoid cigarette and alcohol, since the consumption of these products increases risk.

He recalled that the main risk factors for breast cancer include advanced age, family history and reproductive history (such as not having children or having the first after 30 years), although he stressed that having one or more risk factors does not mean that a person will develop breast cancer, but the probability does increase.
