Coldplay referenced Oasis and oversaw a fan's proposal during the first of their 10-date Wembley Stadium residency.
On Friday night (August 22), the band played the first of a record-breaking 10 headline shows at the iconic venue that sees their epic, three-year 'Music Of The Spheres' world tour continue.
Chris Martin repeatedly thanked the giant crowd for "letting us come home at last" during the set, and suggested that the shows would be the band's last appearance in the city for a number of years.He incorporated a snippet of Oasis' 'Roll Wiht It' during the extended intro to 'Paradise' - a reference to the Manchester band's run of five huge Wembley shows a few weeks ago - and invited a man in an elephant onesie onto the stage for the song.[Twitter Embed: Oasis Planet]
Later, he picked out flags from around the world that were being displayed in the crowd, including from Palestine, Argentina and Ireland, and the band brought out Palestinian-chilean singer Elyanna for 'We Pray'.
When it came to the now infamous 'kiss-cam' segment of the show - which went viral after a CEO was caught apparently having an affair with a co-worker last month - Martin said that anybody who should be at work should "lower themselves" now.

It was at the end of that portion of the show that the camera focused on a man holding a sign saying, "I want to propose to her". martin paused the show to allow the man to get down on one knee, with the woman nodding "yes", drawing cheers from the Wembley crowd.

Coldplay's 10-date Wembley run beats records held by Taylor Swift and Take That, and for all dates, £1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the Music Venue Trust to help fund and support grassroots venues.Coldplay's help comes after MVT's long campaign for a mandatory levy of £1 for every ticket sold to a gig at arena level and above to go back into the grassroots, at a time when the UK is facing "the complete collapse of touring" with one venue closing every two weeks.
In quotes supplied exclusively to NME, the members explained why it was vital for them to help support local spaces and emerging talent.
"Organisations like Music Venue Trust are even more critically important in this country as Brexit,as it's so much harder for new artists to play in Europe," said Martin. "I just no that I would always want people younger then us to have even more possibility than we had, and certainly not less."
