Mexico City, March 16, 2026.- The National Meteorological Service (SMN) indicated that the entry of cold front number 41 over the Gulf of Mexico will cause a drop in temperature in a large part of the country (except in the northwest, west and south); intense occasional rains in areas of Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco; as well as showers and heavy to very heavy rains in states in the northeast, east, center, south and southeast of the national territory, including the Valley of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula.
In addition, a strong to intense northern event is expected with gusts of 100 to 120 km/h in Tamaulipas and Veracruz, gusts of 80 to 100 km/h, during the night, in the isthmus and gulf of Tehuantepec (Oaxaca and Chiapas) and gusts of 50 to 70 km/h in Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatán; high waves on the coasts of the indicated states; in addition to conditions for falling snow or sleet on the peaks of Pico de Orizaba, Cofre de Perote, Popocatépetl, Iztaccíhuatl, Sierra Negra, Nevado de Toluca and La Malinche.
In contrast, the heat wave will continue in Jalisco (south and southwest), Colima (east), Michoacán (center and southwest), Guerrero (center and east) and Oaxaca (south and east), starting from this day in Chiapas (southwest).
Rain forecast for March 16, 2026:
- Very strong with intense points (75 to 150 mm): Puebla (north), Veracruz (center and south), Oaxaca (north and east), Chiapas (northwest and north) and Tabasco (west and south).
- Strong with very strong points (50 to 75 mm): Hidalgo and Tlaxcala.
- Showers with occasional heavy rains (25 to 50 mm): State of Mexico, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
- Shower intervals (5 to 25 mm): Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Mexico City, Morelos and Guerrero.
- Isolated (0.1 to 5 mm): Guanajuato and Michoacán.

- From 35 to 40 °C: Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Chihuahua (southwest), Durango (west), Zacatecas (south), Morelos, Puebla (southwest), Veracruz (south), Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
- From 30 to 35 °C: Baja California Sur, Aguascalientes and State of Mexico (southwest).
