Qbuzz buses will not run in Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe tomorrow morning due to the expected slippery conditions. The KNMI has issued a code orange for the entire country for next night due to icy and slippery conditions, except for Zeeland.

In Friesland the buses are not expected to run until 10 a.m., in Groningen and Drenthe they will not run until at least 12 noon. Buses do run on the Frisian Wadden Islands, Qbuzz reports. The transport company says it made the decision “for the safety of our travelers and drivers”.

The KNMI warns for next night in almost the entire country of a high risk of accidents due to slippery bridges, roads, cycle paths and footpaths. Motorists who do take to the road must pay close attention, because the slipperiness is often difficult to see, according to the KNMI.

During the morning rush hour, code orange only applies in the provinces of Flevoland, Gelderland, Friesland, Groningen, Overijssel and Drenthe.

New Year’s reception in Amsterdam cancelled

Due to the announced weather warning, the municipality of Amsterdam has canceled the New Year’s reception in the Concertgebouw tonight. “The mayor and aldermen do not believe it is responsible for people to run unnecessary risks for a festive evening,” the municipality writes.
