Next February 27th will be celebrated Pokémon Daya date that commemorates the launch in Japan of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, which took place on February 27, 1996. This year, fans of the video game franchise expect a celebration in style, since Nintendo has announced a Pokémon Presentswhere news will be presented.

But it is not the only announcement that the Japanese company has made and that has revolutionized Pikachu fans. Starting next Friday, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users will also be able to purchase Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Versionthe Game Boy Advance titles that conquered an entire generation of players 20 years ago.

These versions were released in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance (GBA)a portable console that was manufactured from 2001 to 2008 and that featured titles as popular as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Metroid Fusion, Fire Emblem o Final Fantasy VIamong many others.

Both games, available in Spanish, can be reserved now for 19.99 euros each in the Nintendo virtual store. The news has been widely commented on social networks and has completely divided the legion of Pokémon players. Does it make sense to pay that amount for such an old game?

The debate is served

Being able to play Fire Red and Leaf Green on a current console, such as the Nintendo Switch, is something that could have happy almost all players of this franchise. Enjoying a title like this again is for many a shot straight to the heart of the nostalgia that is so fashionable now, but the question is another.

The news has been criticized by some users who believe that the game should be cheapertaking into account that this does not offer anything new compared to the edition that we all knew in 2004. Others even maintain that it should be free for those who already pay for the Nintendo Switch Online pass.

And then there are those who have lamented that the new release is only available in digital version. Only In Japan they have launched an exclusive collector’s editionwhich includes two replicas of the Japanese Game Boy Advance game boxes, a crystal pokeball set with Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, and a case to store them.
