The future of farming is here,but not everyone is thrilled. JEREMY CLARKSON, of Clarkson’s Farm fame, has invested in a driverless tractor, a decision that has his colleague KALEB COOPER worried about his job security.

KALEB COOPER, who gained popularity after CLARKSON acquired the DIDDLY SQUAT farm in CHIPPING NORTON, previously worked there. He quickly became CLARKSON’s right-hand man, guiding the Top Gear star through the challenges of running a working farm, as documented in the hit Prime Video series.

Autonomous Tractors: A Modern Farming Solution

CLARKSON believes the driverless tractor will free up his time for other tasks. “It normally takes 20 hours with a 3m cultivator to prepare the 200 acres we use every year for growing pasta and lager,” he told the Times. “And then it takes about 10 hours to plant the actual seeds. That’s 30 hours of me just sitting there, in a bouncy tractor, going up and down endlessly.”

“Kaleb hates it. He says it’ll put him out of a job.”

He admits his own skills aren’t perfect. “I miss bits. I cock up turns and corners. I hit gateposts and most years I bounce along for hours not realising that the hopper is empty and I’m busy planting nothing at all.”

CLARKSON argues that “an autonomous tractor would not make mistakes like this and it would not get bored. It doesn’t need to stop for a wee and it does not need to sleep.”

Cooper’s concerns and Potential Solutions

Despite the potential benefits, COOPER is not convinced. CLARKSON said: “kaleb hates it. He says it’ll put him out of a job.”

CLARKSON attempted to reassure him, explaining that COOPER could use his manual tractor on another farm, “and get paid twice”.

“He did agree I had a point,” the TV personality said.
