The Civil Guard intervenes in a greenhouse in Balanegra, a cannabis sativa plantation with 5,000 plants perfectly equipped for the proper development of the crop, with a sophisticated automatic fertilization and irrigation system, such as those used in the extensive agriculture characteristic of Poniente Almeirense, arresting one person and keeping another under investigation under the charge of a crime against public health.
According to the Civil Guard’s assessment, what was seized could reach a value exceeding one million euros on the black market, which shows the magnitude of the infrastructure and the degree of organization of the responsible group.
Within the framework of the PARDOVERT operation, the agents of the Investigation Area of the Main Post of Adra are aware of the possible existence of a plantation in the aforementioned town, in which another operation had recently been carried out in which they arrested three people and seized more than 500 ‘marie’ plants.
After intense investigation and surveillance work, the officers located the farm, used exclusively for the cultivation of marijuana. During the inspection, a total of 5,600 cannabis plants were intervened, a complete automatic irrigation and fertilization system, metal structures for staking the plants and a video surveillance system that covered both the surface of the greenhouse and the access to it.
A man, supposedly in charge of monitoring and caring for the plantation, was arrested at the scene. Likewise, another person related to the exploitation is being investigated. The PARDOVERT operation remains open and new actions are not ruled out.
Both the proceedings, the detainees, as well as the seized effects were brought before the Court of First Instance and Investigation of Berja.
This action is part of the incessant work carried out by the Civil Guard, in the fight against trafficking, cultivation or production of narcotic substances, as well as fraud of electricity in the province of Almería.
Operation CALACATTA
The Adra Main Post Research Area maintains pressure on narcotic production in Balanegra.
Prior to this Operation PARDOVERT, the agents of the Abderitano barracks carried out, in mid-October, Operation CALACATTA, which allowed the dismantling of a plantation of nearly 500 marijuana plants, installed inside a home in this municipality, arresting three people accused of crimes against public health and fraud of electrical fluid.
According to the data collected by the agents, the detainees were in charge of very different tasks to carry out the illicit cultivation: surveillance, maintenance and supply of materials. The facilities had strong security measures to avoid detection, such as semi-hidden video surveillance cameras, access control and counter-surveillance protocols in the vicinity.
Also with a sophisticated cultivation system with five air conditioning machines, six LED lamps, 17 lamp holders, eight fans, six extractors, 32 electric differentials, two ozone filters and a copper pipe kit.
Likewise, a high-end vehicle was intervened, used by those involved to move discreetly through the area and avoid raising suspicions among the neighbors.
The agents confirmed that the house had been modified inside in order to optimize cultivation, having advanced lighting, ventilation and air conditioning systems that showed a clear intention of professional and intensive exploitation.
Operation CALACATTA remains open and new actions or arrests are not ruled out within the framework of the investigation.
