Chihuahua state prosecutor, César Jáuregui, on Sunday about the opening of an investigation for the discovery of 383 bodies accumulated in a crematorium in Ciudad Juárez, border with the United States.
Six funerals are related to the case, Jáuregui reported on Monday, local media.
These are the funerary Luz Divina, Chapels Protecto Deco, Del Carmen, Ramírez, Latin American and Eternal Love, the official listed.
CNN tries to communicate with those responsible for these companies to know their reaction.
The six funeral homes are in Ciudad Juárez and hired the crematorium services, according to the documents found by the authorities in the place, Eloy García, spokesman for the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office, informed CNN.
Jáuregui reiterated that the bodies found have tank treatment and said he is investigating the origin of each one. The bodies have a death data of at least three to four, the official added.
The crematorium was discovered on Thursday after several municipal police found a funeral float with two bodies and other corpses stacked in a room in the courtyard.
José Luis Arellano Cuarón, owner of the company that operated the crematorium, and Facundo Martínez Roble are arrested in this case and would have the imputation hearing on Monday, according to the prosecutor.
CNN tries to find out if the detainees have legal representation to consult about how they declare themselves to the accusations against them.
“They will be accused of the crimes provided for in the Criminal Code on undue inhumation of bodies and also for some crimes established in the General Health Law, which have to do with due use of bodies and bodies that have available establishments that are dedicated to this,” Jáuregui explained.
“They simply picked up the bodies, surely made the collection that I had to do for the service and finally they did not. And accumulated the bodies in the facilities of the place,” said the prosecutor.
While investigations are carried out, the bodies have been placed in bags and in a refrigerated room.
