City College pulsated with Afro-Caribbean rhythms on Tuesday, March 18th, as Las Guarracheras, an all-women band, delivered a powerful message of resilience and empowerment. the performance, hosted by the City Department of Music, was a highlight of Women’s History Month, showcasing the vibrant contributions of women to the Latin music scene.

Giba Botia, the band’s timbalera, shared the challenges she faced navigating a male-dominated music industry in Colombia.
