Former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, who is running for a new public position from the PSD, attacked Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Thursday evening, who “confused the position with the need to be Romania’s Messiah“, accusing him of wrongly speaking about the “disaster” in which Romania is and that insolvency was avoided.
“The big problem is that, after this exchange of prime ministers, a savior was sought. A guilty party was sought, that is, me. Being me after five PNL prime ministers, after Romania had the largest investments in post-December history, of 120 billion, after, finally, Moldova has a functional highway… A savior was sought who confused the function with the need to be Romania’s Messiah”, stated Ciolacu, Thursday evening, on Antena 3 CNN, quoted by News.ro.
Asked if he was referring to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Ciolacu replied: “I mean exactly him. As long as you continuously appear on TV and say “disaster”, you announce the disaster, as long as you freeze, block all investments (…) Romania’s most serious problem is not the budget deficit. Romania’s most serious problem is the trade deficit. That’s why the budget must be returned to the sectors where the most imports, from for example, food. All programs and all state aid, SMEs, everything is blocked, absolutely everything, at this moment, in Romania”.
Marcel Ciolacu also referred to the fact that diesel has reached 8 lei, and inflation to 10% and he appreciated that, if these figures had been reached when he was in charge of the Government, he would have been set on fire in Piaţa Victoriei.
“We are confusing reform with layoffs. What reform are we talking about?” Ciolacu also declared.
He claims that “we have harmed ourselves”.
“Why? From the desire to show how you save Romania – “Forget, sir, what trouble we were in and how we got out”. We sunk: from a budget crisis, we reached the threshold of an economic crisis and a social crisis”, Ciolacu also affirmed.
The former prime minister is the PSD candidate in the December 7 partial elections for the position of president of the Buzău County Council.
Independent candidate Mihai Răzvan Moraru, an entrepreneur from Buzo, is supported in this electoral race by USR and PNL.
