The former Director of High School at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Purwadi Sutanto, admitted that he had been given USD 7,000 which was placed on the table. However, Purwadi said the money had been returned to investigators.
Purwadi made this confession when testifying at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Tuesday (6/1/2026). The defendants in this trial are Mulyatsyah as Director of Middle Schools at the Ministry of Education and Culture, 2020, Sri Wahyuningsih as Director of Elementary Schools at the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education for 2020-2021, and Ibrahim Arief alias IBAM as a consultant.
“How much money did you witness return or entrust to investigators, sir? 7,000 United States dollars, sir?” asked the prosecutor.

“That’s right,” answered Purwadi.
Purwadi said the money was received from Dhany Hamiddan Khoir as a PPK official. He said the money was placed on the table without any orders.
“At that time, what did PPK SMA convey, Sir? Receipt of the money?” asked the prosecutor.
“I didn’t find it at that time, I just put it on the table, there were no orders, because I was no longer in office, so I just kept the money,” answered Purwadi.
Prosecutors are investigating whether the money came from the Chromebook provider. Purwadi admitted that he only kept the money but it had been returned to investigators.
“Have you ever been informed that the money came from the ICT procurement provider for the SMA directorate?” asked the prosecutor.
“I rarely interact with Mr Dhany, so I just kept it, until yesterday when there was a problem I returned it,” answered Purwadi.
In the indictment, the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM) for 2020-2022 at the Ministry of Education and Culture is said to have enriched a number of parties. These include enriching Dhany Hamiddan Khoir by IDR 200 million and USD 30 thousand, then enriching Purwadi Sutanto by USD 7,000.
It is known that the trial for the indictment of Ibrahim or Ibam, Mulyatsyah and Sri was held on Tuesday (16/12/2025). Prosecutors accused Ibam et al of causing state financial losses of IDR 2.1 trillion in this case.
The prosecutor said the results of the calculation of state losses of IDR 2.1 trillion came from the high price of Chromebook laptops amounting to IDR 1,567,888,662,716.74 (1.5 trillion). Then, from CDM procurement that was not needed and was not useful, it amounted to USD 44,054,426 or around Rp. 621,387,678,730 (621 billion).
“The loss to state finances amounted to IDR 1,567,888,662,716.74 based on the audit report calculating state financial losses in cases of alleged criminal acts of corruption in the education digitalization program at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology for 2019 to 2022 Number PE.03.03/SR/SP-920/D6/02/2025 dated 04 November 2025 from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Prosecutor Roy Riady when reading the indictment at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court.
“And the state financial loss due to the procurement of Chrome Device Management which is not needed and is not useful in the Education Digitalization Program at the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture from 2019 to 2022 is USD 44,054,426 or at least IDR 621,387,678,730,” he added.
