Christophe Rauck: New Director at Théâtre des Amandiers

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

He was born in Creil (Oise) on November 7, 1963, but it was in Nice that he grew up. The director Christophe Rauck is a man from the South, which is not evidenced by his long and consistent career in the north of France. Director of the Théâtre du peuple, in Bussang, in the Vosges (2003-2006), then of the Théâtre Gérard-Philipe, in Saint-Denis (2008-2013), and of the Théâtre du Nord, in Lille (2013-2020), he has been at the head of Nanterre-Amandiers since January 2021.

Suffice to say that he has been champing at the bit for almost four years in the Paris suburbs while waiting for the ambitious rehabilitation of the establishment to be finally completed, the delivery of which, scheduled for 2024, has suffered several delays. The game was worth it. Stunning transformation of the reception areas, creation of a 200-seat room, modernization of stages equipped with the latest technologies, brand new studios for the artists in residence, bay windows reaching almost 12 meters high on the facade: the Norwegian architects from the Snohetta agency saw the big picture. The spectacular overhaul of the theater propels it into the future. Patrice Chéreau, who directed it from 1982 to 1991, would not recognize him.
