Three Chinese manufacturers are included in the manufacturer ranking, established based on sales volumes achieved in 2025, on a global scale. Proof that the Chinese automobile industry continues to grow.
While the manufacturers have all published their sales volumes for the year 2025, the ranking is now up to date. If there is no revolution at the top of the table, we still note
the meteoric growth of three Chinese brands. These are officially among the ten manufacturers that sold the most cars last year.
Toyota still world leader in 2025
Unsurprisingly, the ranking of the largest automobile manufacturers has not been shaken up in 2025. At least, not with regard to the first half of the table. We thus find Toyota, still in first place. The Japanese giant, made up notably of Toyota and Lexus, delivered 11.32 million vehicles worldwide. An increase of 4.65% over one year
(10.82 million cars sold in 2024).
The Volkswagen group ended the year in second place, with a total of 8.98 million cars sold. The German declines slightly, by 0.51%, compared to 2024. It is followed quite far by the Hyundai group (Hyundai, Kia, Genesis), which has 7.23 million sales over the year (+0.6% compared to 2024).
General Motors finished at the foot of the podium (6.18 million cars sold, +3.03% compared to 2024), ahead
Stellantis, fifth. The Franco-Italian-American group delivered 5.48 million cars in 2025. Which represents an increase of 1.27% in one year.

Three Chinese manufacturers enter the top 10
If there is no revolution at the top of the table, there are however some surprises after fifth place. Indeed, three Chinese brands will enter the ten largest global manufacturers in 2025. This underlines the rise in power of the Chinese automobile industry, and of some of the players who already sell significant volumes well beyond the borders of the Middle Kingdom.
Thus, we find the giant BYD in sixth position in the ranking. The group sold 4.6 million cars around the world in 2025. That is an impressive growth of 7.72% compared to 2024. The group’s strategy, which has established itself in numerous markets, is visibly bearing fruit. He is followed by SAIC, a group which collaborates in particular with Audi to produce cars for the Chinese market. For its part, it displays a total of 4.51 million deliveries. The group thus progressed by 12.33%.
But the prize for growth undoubtedly goes to
Geely. With 4.12 million cars sold in 2025, the group (partner of Volvo, among others) climbs by 26.03%! He is thus ahead of Honda, which closes this top 10.
