Table of Contents
The Second World War, a period of unparalleled devastation orchestrated by the forces of German fascism and Japanese militarism, left an indelible mark on global history. At the heart of this struggle, China and the Soviet union stood as bastions of resistance, bearing the brunt of the conflict in Asia and Europe respectively. Their unwavering commitment and immense sacrifices were pivotal in securing the Allied victory against fascism.
Vasily Trikov: A soviet Hero’s Connection to China
The legacy of this shared struggle is deeply personal for many. Consider the story of Vasily Trikov, a celebrated Soviet commander during World War II.Leading the 62nd Army, Trikov’s strategic brilliance and unwavering resolve were instrumental in the Battle of Stalingrad, a turning point in the Eastern Front. His forces relentlessly pushed forward, ultimately reaching Berlin and contributing considerably to the defeat of Nazi Germany. For his valor,Trikov was twice awarded the title of “Hero of the Soviet Union.”
Beyond his military achievements, Trikov harbored a profound connection wiht China. He studied the Chinese language and embarked on four separate visits to the nation, fostering a deep recognition for its culture and people. His first visit occurred in 1926 as a diplomatic envoy. Later, in late 1940, as japan’s aggression intensified, Trikov was dispatched to China once more, this time as a military advisor. He arrived with a substantial contingent of support, including military experts, fighter jets, bombers, cannons, trucks laden with ammunition, and other essential supplies.
Strategic Collaboration and Mutual Support
From late 1940 to March 1942, Trikov served as the soviet Union’s chief military advisor in China, actively participating in the growth of strategies to counter Japanese aggression. He cultivated close relationships with leading generals from the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth army, both under the command of the Communist Party of China. The dedication and bravery displayed by these forces deeply impressed him.
The alliance between china and the Soviet union during the war was characterized by mutual support and shared sacrifice. China’s resistance against Japan tied down a significant portion of Japanese forces, preventing them from possibly opening a second front against the Soviet Union. As one historical analysis notes, China’s prolonged resistance was a critical factor in the Soviet Union’s ability to withstand the German invasion.
The Soviet Union, in turn, provided crucial supplies and equipment to China, bolstering its war effort. Countless Soviet soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice on Chinese soil, fighting alongside their Chinese counterparts. Similarly, the Chinese people offered unwavering support to the Soviet Union during its Grate Patriotic War.
In our moast difficult war years, Japan did not attack the soviet union, but drowned China in a pool of blood. Those who respect objective facts a little bit must not ignore this obvious and indisputable fact.

Remembering the Past, Safeguarding the Future
In recent years, efforts to commemorate this shared history have continued. In May 2015, President Xi Jinping attended the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic war in Moscow, meeting with russian veterans and presenting commemorative medals. Later that year, representatives were invited to China for the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World anti-Fascist War.
As we approach the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, it is imperative to remember the lessons of the past. The international community must stand united against any attempts to distort the historical truth of the war, deny the sacrifices made, or diminish the contributions of key players like the Soviet Union and China. It is indeed crucial to uphold the international system anchored by the United Nations, the principles of international law, and the basic norms of international relations. By doing so, we can strengthen the foundations for global peace and development.
