BEIJING, Jan. 15, 2026 (Xinhua) In the coming years, China will push forward the high-quality development of the intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said last Wednesday.
The ministry said that a five-year plan will be developed to develop this industry, adding that the plan will be coordinated with relevant energy and infrastructure strategies to guide industrial innovation at the entire sector level.
A new round of high-quality development initiatives for major industrial chains will be implemented, with increased investment in R&D of outstanding products, basic materials and software tools. At the same time, China will accelerate breakthroughs in key technologies such as all-solid-state batteries and high-level autonomous driving.
According to the ministry, measures will be taken to expand automobile consumption, strengthen the program to replace old vehicles with new ones, encourage large-scale application of heavy new energy trucks, deepen insurance reforms for new energy vehicles, and stimulate diversified consumption potential.
The Ministry will also provide support for international cooperation in trade, investment and technology, guide companies towards foreign expansion in a rational, orderly and safe manner, and promote a new landscape for global industrial cooperation in this sector.
