by Archynetys Health Desk

In 2023, Antonia Delaporte (25) arrived in Europe in order to finish her dental studies. After graduating from college, he began to practice and currently works as a dentist in a private clinic in Barcelona, Spain.

This was thanks to a program from the University of the Andes (Uandes) that allows dentistry and nutrition students can obtain a double international degree: one in Chile and another in the European Union (EU), which allows them to work in both territories.

But the bet is intense and competitive, says Delaporte. Among the main requirements is advanced command of English, with a B2 certificate accreditation; do not record failed subjects; and present a motivation letter.

Among the advantages of the program, the Chilean highlights the impact on professional projection, since create a more direct path to integration into the European labor market.

In that sense, Delaporte mentions that the student graduates from an institution in the European Union, so the degree is valid in the region. On the other hand, when it is directly approved in a single country, such as Spain or France, the authorization to practice is limited to that territory and does not allow working in other Member States.

“I thought it was going to be difficult for me to find a job, because Barcelona is a new city for me, but the truth is that it wasn’t that difficult. Here one can choose to work under contract or independently.. In Chile, on the other hand, the majority of professionals work independently and with low percentages: it is not a favorable scenario,” says alumni Uandes.

DENTISTRY AND NUTRITION IN EUROPE

Claudia Naranjoacademic vice dean of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad de los Andes (Uandes), explains that, with the double degree program, Students graduate as dental surgeons and can achieve the same degree at the International University of Catalonia (UIC).

Starting with the 2026 Admission process, Nutrition is another career that is part of the program, in this case with the University of Navarra. In this regard, Gabriela Sarratdirector of studies at the Uandes School of Nutrition and Dietetics, comments that “the agreement between both houses strengthens the ties of academic exchange of study and allows our students to acquire international and intercultural training”.

“Thanks to this alliance, Future graduates of both universities will receive a global perspective that will enrich their training and open doors in the professional field.facilitating their work opportunities in the European Union,” he points out.
