Chilean rugby is experiencing a week of high international demand, with simultaneous activity in four different venues: the adult team in Europe, Selknam in Uruguay, the Cóndores Seven in Canada and the M20 serving as the home team in Santiago. A present that confirms the competitive growth of national rugby.
Chile faces Italy A in Europe
Table of Contents
The adult national team will have a high-level challenge in European territory. The Cóndors will travel to Italy to face Italy A, in a key match to add international experience and continue strengthening the team’s competitive process.
The duel against the Italian team represents a demanding test both physically and tactically, against an opponent that combines projection and professional structure. The only and last precedent at the adult level was the international window match in November last year, where in Genoa, Italy defeated the Chilean warriors 34-19.
Selknam visits Peñarol in Uruguay
On the South American level, Selknam will hit the road again to face Peñarol Rugby in Montevideo.
After its recent presentation at home, the Chilean team will seek to consolidate its performance outside the country against one of the most solid teams on the continent. The match in Uruguay appears as a decisive match in the season, understanding the historical rivalry between both countries of origin of the franchises, as well as the present of both clubs in the Super Rugby Americas, where the current champion has not yet won in two contested dates.
The Cóndores Seven compete in the Tri-Nations in Vancouver
Reduced rugby also has international action. Cóndores 7s will compete in the Teck Tri-Nations Challenge that will be held in Vancouver, an event that will allow them to measure their strength against high-paced and demanding rivals.
Sevens continues to be a key platform for the development of players and the consolidation of a dynamic and competitive model at an international level.
The M20 receives Mar del Plata
The replacement also adds international minutes. The youth team will face IPR Sporting from Mar del Plata, Argentina.
The commitment will be a relevant opportunity for those under 20 years of age to continue accumulating competitive contact, strengthening the base of high national performance, all with a view to the world championship of the category to be held in our country in October of this year. Although the match is on national soil, the location and time of the match has not yet been confirmed.
A Chilean rugby in expansion
With a presence in Europe, South America and North America, Chilean rugby shows that its development is no longer concentrated on a single front. Selected, professional franchise and training categories compete simultaneously, projecting the country at different levels on the international stage.
Chile plays on all fields. And the challenge is to sustain that growth with performance and results.
