The port of San Antonio, in the Valparaíso region, received the largest shipment of new cars in the history of Chile, with a shipment of 6,338 units, exceeding the 6,185 that arrived in a single ship, in 2021.
The vehicles arrived in the country aboard the Panamanian flag vessel M/N Morning Lily, to the San Antonio multipurpose port managed by DP World.
“The arrival of the M/N Morning Lily marks a new record, as it is the largest unloading of vehicles in the history of Chile and from our DP World terminal in San Antonio, exceeding the 6,185 M/N Asian Empire vehicles we received in 2021,” commented Stephenie Dewulf, senior commercial manager at DP World.
The executive adds that “with this new record, DP World reinforces its position in its San Antonio terminal, as the most efficient in Chile in Ro-Ro cargo operations, with more than 95% of vehicle imports from the national market. DP World is a fully integrated global logistics provider.”
248 thousand vehicles this year to San Antonio
According to Dewulf, in 2025 they project the entry of almost 248 thousand vehicles through DP World in San Antonio, exceeding the 235,822 in 2024 and the 227,601 in 2023.
The executive explains that the M/N Morning Lily of the Eukor shipping line and brokered by Taylor, comes from Shanghai (China) and the largest number of vehicles are from the brands Suzuki and Kia.
From Taylor they detailed that vehicles also come on the boat Changan, Great Wall, Mazda, Ford, Volvo, SAC Motors and some units of Tesla.
Although the record figures of October 2021 have not yet been reached, when more than 25,000 vehicles arrived at the port on seven vessels, this time it is the largest individual operation on record.
The ship has already arrived at the DP World terminal in San Antonio and the unloading operation will take place until this Monday, December 15.
