SIDOARJO, KOMPAS.com – The Sidoarjo Regency Health Service (Dinkes) noted a decrease in the number of TB (Tuberculosis) sufferers compared to last year.

The Sidoarjo Health Office noted that the number of TB sufferers from January to November 3 2025 was 548 cases in children aged 0-14 years.

This number is a decrease compared to last year’s 802 cases.

Sub-Coordinator for Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (P2PM) at the Sidoarjo Health Office, Yanto Lipu, said the decrease was due to early screening efforts.

“Screening in schools by community health centers in their respective areas,” said Yanto Lipu, Friday (7/11/2025).

Meanwhile, overall, there were 5,048 TB cases in Sidoarjo from January to early November 2025 and 4,500 of them were adults.

According to Yanto, this trend is a positive signal. However, his party is still carrying out evaluations until the end of the year to ensure treatment achievements.

“The total number of cases this year compared to last year is still lower. But we haven’t finished the evaluation because it’s not the end of the year yet,” he explained.

Yanto appealed to the public to immediately undergo an examination at a health facility (faskes) such as the nearest community health center if they feel symptoms of TB.

Symptoms of TB generally include coughing for more than two weeks, drastic weight loss, or frequent night sweats.

“Early detection efforts and routine treatment are important steps to break the chain of TB transmission, especially for vulnerable families,” he said.
