Every parent knows how overwhelmed they are. In Switzerland too, parents are reaching their limits in everyday parenting. When stress takes over, children are loud and patience is running thin, an outburst of anger is often just a moment away. This is exactly where the new campaign from Child Protection Switzerland comes in: It reminds parents that there are always alternatives to violence in such situations. Whether it’s taking a deep breath, counting to ten or getting some fresh air: anything is better than taking out your frustration on your child.

The focus of the campaign is an emotional film that shows a mother and a father who are increasingly overwhelmed in an everyday situation. Both are literally on the verge of exploding – recognizable in the film by burning fuses that are dangerously approaching them. Will they blow up? Or are they under control?

On the accompanying poster motifs, father or mother can be seen with a lit fuse – with the clear request: “Before you blow up: get into the air.” Going out briefly and removing yourself from the situation is just one of many alternative courses of action. With the campaign, Child Protection Switzerland is encouraging parents to pause and react consciously in tense moments. You can find simple tips and courses on kinderschutz.ch that help make everyday life calmer and free of violence.

Because every child has the right to grow up without fear and violence – and every parent deserves support to make exactly that possible.
