CHIANG MAI, Thailand — The Thais call Chiang Mai the “Rose of the North,” and Thailand’s fifth-largest city lives up to its name. In contrast to Bangkok, life here is relatively quiet, the skyline remains low-rise, dominated by centuries-old temples, and there is still plenty of nature to be seen.
