The strategy of bringing vehicles from China and selling them with the Chevrolet emblem has been a great success in the region, however, there is a more important point and that is the importance they have gained at the regional level, to the point that The brand has already started manufacturing them in Latin America.
He Chevrolet Spark EUV It is the first car of Chinese origin to be manufactured in LATAM, since just yesterday the regional manufacturing was given the green flag, being assembled at the Horizonte plant, in the state of Ceará, Brazil.

This factory received a million-dollar investment to modernize the assembly lines, since the objective is to receive new models from China, such as the Chevrolet Captiva EV, which is a different variant of the recently launched Captiva PHEV.
For the moment, the Brazilian production of the Chevrolet Spark EUV will be to satisfy the demands of the local market, since it is not even a complete assembly. Part of the vehicle already arrives prefabricated from the Baojun plant in China, and some components are being completed in Brazil.

However, the project contemplates that as the months progress and demand grows, the percentage of the assembly that is carried out in Brazil will increase, and we cannot even rule out that this factory exports the finished products, which are identical to the models from China, to other markets on the continent.
This Chevrolet Spark EUC is the same product that is sold in Mexico. It also has a 42 kWh battery and a range of less than 300 km. There its price is 159,990 reais, which is equivalent to almost $550,000 Mexican pesos, so in Mexico it is considerably more accessible ($449,900 pesos).

On the other hand, the Chevrolet Spark EUV is not the first Chinese car to be manufactured in the region. Years ago, the Chevrolet Onix began to be produced in Mexico, however, the pandemic and other factors made regular production difficult and shortly after it was decided to return all manufacturing to China.
It would not be a surprise if the production of other products created in China is sent to some Latin American countries, since there are even Chinese brands that have already begun to open assembly plants in the region, such as BYD, which already operates a factory in Brazil.
