Chelsea has introduced British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters on-screen at all men’s and women’s home fixtures through a partnership with Cadbury, becoming the first club across the Premier League and Women’s Super League to do so.
The initiative applies to all domestic and European home games held at Stamford Bridge and Kingsmeadow. It aims to improve accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing supporters, allowing them to fully experience matchday commentary and communication within the stadium.
A short film released by the club features Chelsea supporters with hearing loss attending a home match where BSL interpretation was provided, highlighting the impact of the initiative on fans.
The programme forms part of the wider Sign with Fingers campaign, developed by Chelsea and Cadbury in collaboration with the Chelsea Deaf Supporters Group, the National Deaf Children’s Society and Performance Interpreting. The campaign promotes inclusion and accessibility within football and supports ongoing efforts to make stadium experiences more inclusive for all supporters.
Chelsea, based in west London, play home matches at Stamford Bridge, which has a capacity of over 40,000.
