The Union of Workers in Public and Social Functions of the South and Autonomous Regions presented a formal complaint to the general secretary of the Assembly of the Republic, Anabela Cabral Ferreira, against Chega deputies for behaviors that “profoundly affect the dignity, self-esteem, mental health and physical integrity of workers”.

In the complaint that Expresso had access to and which was reported this Thursday, Parliament officials say they are accused by Chega deputies of “lack of political neutrality” and of “altering the Journals of the Assembly of the Republic with the sole intention of hiding the comments intended for Chega”.

The union exemplified this with the episode that took place in mid-September with Pedro Frazão insisting that the PSD parliamentary leader, Hugo Soares, had “offered him a beating”. Chega’s deputy filed a complaint that ended up being dismissed. But the party led by André Ventura considers that “there was a lack of reliability in the transcription of the plenary session”.

Parliament files Pedro Frazão’s complaint against Hugo Soares, who demands an apology from Ventura. After all, “beating” was “address”

The union even calls for the application of measures “appropriate and conducive to their protection”recalling that, on October 27th, the president of Chega, André Ventura, accused the Assembly services of “cutting his intervention time”. Chega members “publicly shout that employees of the Assembly of the Republic have to ‘respect the representativeness of the Assembly of the Republic’ and are ‘paid by Portuguese taxes’”.

Taking these examples into account, the parliamentary employees who complained consider that these behaviors “profoundly affect the dignity, self-esteem, mental health and physical integrity of the work”. Chega members are “causing enormous discomfort to workers, causing them extreme anxiety”.

“The suitability and good name of workers are at stake, raising doubts about their honesty, character and professionalism, and violation of the right to honor and seriousness or offensive to their good name, reputation and image is not acceptable,” the union stressed.
