Checco Zalone is unstoppable, the Na’vi of the planet Pandora are harassing him, while Disney has been resisting for weeks and the historical drama is gaining ground. It smacks of commentary, but it is the Christmas 2025 box office, the period that confirms itself as one of the most profitable of the year for takings. Between comedies, animation, history and arthouse films, the offer to choose from satisfied all target audiences.
Buen Camino record
It is “Buen Camino”, a new comedy by Gennaro Nunziante starring the Apulian actor and comedian, the film most watched by Italians between 25 and 28 December.
Released on Christmas Day, to date in just four days it has grossed almost 27 million euros (precisely we are talking about 26,921,300 euros). If you consider that “Tolo Tolo”, dating back to five years ago, at the end of its time in theaters had brought home just over 46 in total, it is probable that “Buen Camino” will only need to reach Epiphany to equal or surpass it in just over a week.
Avatar resists
Next among the spectators’ preferences is James Cameron’s blockbuster, now in its third chapter. “Avatar – Fire and Ash”, released on December 17, exceeds 15 million (15,089,521). Far from the Zalone phenomenon, of course, but his second place keeps him firmly in place. The podium is completed by “Nuremberg” by James Vanderbilt starring Russell Crowe in the role of Herman Göring which, from 18 December, reaches 3,472,692 euros.

The top ten
Scrolling along the top ten we find “Zootropolis 2” in fourth position. It has not let up in theaters since November 26th and rises to 15,955,616 euros, exceeding the takings of the first chapter of 2016. The first novelty comes in fifth place: “Primavera” by Damiano Michieletto with Michele Riondino and Tecla Insolia, the story of a violinist who meets Antonio Vivaldi, has grossed 562,801 euros since December 25th, the day of release. Followed by the Norwegian “A little mouse under the tree”, a mixed media animated film released on December 18, which accumulates 903,051.
Seventh position for “Father mother sister brother” by Jim Jarmusch, Golden Lion at the latest Venice International Film Festival. Released on December 18th, the takings are currently 796,375. Also among the ten films most watched by Italians during the Christmas period is “La Grazia”, Paolo Sorrentino’s latest film with a morning preview in some theaters on Christmas Day (it will be officially released on 15 January 2026). His income is 187,318 euros. “Oi vita mia” by Pio and Amedeo manages to resist, on the big screen from November 27th, which to date has grossed 8,415,538 euros and remains in ninth position. Another new entry closes the top ten: “My family in Taipei”, the winner of the last Rome Film Festival. Released on December 25th (like the films by Michieletto and Zalone), it still managed to gain a share of the public, taking home 123,635.
