Eight clubs succeeded in ensuring direct qualification to the round of 16 after occupying the first eight places in the ranking table, as the list included Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon, and Manchester City, which are the teams that performed distinguished levels during the league stage.
The European Football Association announced that the draw for the round of 16, in addition to the draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals, will be held on Friday, February 27, to determine the full path of the clubs until the final match. The Round of 16 matches are scheduled to be played in a home-and-away format, with the first-leg matches being held on March 10 and 11, while the return matches will be played on the 17 and 18 of the same month.
The round of 16 playoff draw ceremony will be held today at one o’clock in the afternoon Cairo time, and two o’clock in the afternoon Saudi time, and will be broadcast live on the open “BeIN Sports News” channel.
On the other hand, 16 teams qualified for the round of 16 playoff stage, where these teams will play strong matches in a home-and-away format, with only 8 teams qualifying to complete the tournament and face the qualified teams directly.
The first leg of the playoff matches are expected to be held on the 17th and 18th of next February, while the return matches will be played on the 24th and 25th of the same month.
