Mourning in the world of football. The German defender Sebastian Hertner died after falling 70 meters from a chairlift during a skiing holiday in Montenegro. Hertner was on holiday in Savin Kuk, in northern Montenegro, when the chairlift he was traveling on suddenly detached, causing him to fall without leaving him a chance.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that our captain Sebastian Hertner has died in a tragic accident while on holiday. We are shocked and deeply saddened. Our deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, Sebastian”, wrote the club of which he was captain, Etsv Hamburgom, fifth series, on its social channels.
According to initial reconstructions, the chairlift detached itself from the cable on which it was travelling, hitting the rear and causing the footballer to fall from a height of around 70 metres: Hertner died instantly. At his side was his wife, a witness and also a victim of the incident, who was reached by emergency services only after several hours. The woman, in shock, suffered a broken leg.
The plant was closed immediately and the Montenegrin judicial authorities launched an investigation to ascertain responsibility.
