The Celtics welcome the Grizzlies to TD Garden for the NBA regular season. Boston is going through a difficult start to the year with 5 wins and 7 losses after 12 games. The notable absences and numerous changes last summer forced the Celtics to reinvent themselves. Jaylen Brown assumes his new leadership role, averaging 28 points per game this season. But, behind him, it’s quite irregular and the attack is predictable. Defensively, the structure still holds, but in certain matches it explodes. Joe Mazzulla will have to make adjustments, with more offensive variations.
Memphis has had a disastrous start to the season with 8 defeats in 12 matches. Something seems broken in this franchise. Jaren Jackson Jr continues to offer quality sequences, but the attack is not good. Ja Morant is unrecognizable at the moment, a shadow of his former self. He is expected to pull himself together and assume his role as leader. If the franchise repairs its offensive cohesion and stabilizes its rotations, Memphis can quickly regain competitiveness to move up the Western Conference standings.
