For a long time, things had been quiet about Céline Dion: She was battling an incurable illness that was severely limiting her life. Now she wants to go back to the stage.
After a year-long break from concerts due to illness, superstar Céline Dion has announced a stage comeback. “This year I’m getting the best gift of my life,” the “My Heart Will Go On” singer said in a video posted to Instagram on her 58th birthday. “I get the opportunity to see you and perform for you again, starting in September in Paris.”
Dion’s last tour was in 2020, but not all dates could be played: from March, among other things, the performances in Germany had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic and the alternative dates in 2021 were ultimately canceled entirely due to her illness.
It has been known for around four years that Céline Dion suffers from a rare neurological disease: the so-called stiff person syndrome. The singer is regularly plagued by muscle cramps and her singing voice is also affected by the disease.
