granby Cégep Students Stage dual Fundraising Events: Disco Night and Artistic Cabaret

Event Coordination Students Give Back to Cégep de Granby Foundation

Students enrolled in the Event Coordination program at Cégep de Granby are putting their skills to the test by organizing not one, but two distinct events. These initiatives aim to provide entertainment for attendees while simultaneously raising crucial funds for the Cégep de Granby Foundation, which supports student success through various programs.

Dual Events Showcase Student Talent and Industry readiness

The twelve students pursuing the college studies certificate (AEC) in event coordination have been divided into two teams, each tasked with planning and executing a major event this spring. This hands-on experiance allows them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout their program.

amelyia Leclair-Lapointe, a student involved in organizing the events, highlighted the extensive planning involved, stating, These projects are the fruit of months of work. Each team is responsible for all aspects of event management, including logistics, human resources, finances, and communications.

Disco Fever: A Retro Night of Music and Fun

On Friday, May 30th, starting at 7 PM, the Cégep de Granby student café will transform into a vibrant 1980s-themed dance floor for the “Disco-Nettectée” evening. A DJ specializing in the music of the era will provide the soundtrack for what promises to be a memorable night.

Kayvohn Grondin, one of the student organizers, emphasized that the event will be entirely alcohol-free, stating, ItS a modern way to rethink our habits in the face of festive activities. Attendees can expect immersive LED lighting, a retro arcade, a photo zone, and a selection of treats, including creamy milkshakes and creative mocktails. Prizes will also be up for grabs throughout the evening.

“Pastel!”: An Immersive Artistic Garden Party

the second event, “pastel!”, will take place on Sunday, June 1st, from 1 PM to 4 PM in the Cégep de Granby’s interior garden. This artistic, festive, and immersive garden party celebrates diversity through a blend of art, performance, and gastronomy.

Joséphine Gravel and Laurent Duhamel, members of the organizing commitee, detailed the eco-responsible elements of “Pastel!”, including live music, living arts, drag performances, and other artistic surprises. A cocktail dinner featuring exquisite local bites will also be offered to attendees.

Supporting Future Cégepians

All proceeds from both events will be donated to the Cégep de Granby Foundation, which plays a vital role in supporting student success through various initiatives. Foundations like these are crucial; for example, the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation reports that students with financial support are significantly more likely to complete their post-secondary education.

The Cégep de Granby Foundation is dedicated to promoting the success of our students through financial aid, academic support, and innovative programs.

Talent Available: Event Coordination Trainees Seeking Opportunities

While some students have already secured internships for the summer, teacher Mélanie Armstrong noted that several trainees are still available from June 9th to July 18th. This presents a valuable possibility for local businesses and organizations to leverage their expertise in event planning and execution.
