Montreal Grand Prix Festivities See Pepper Spray Incident and Arrests

During the Grand Prix festivities in downtown Montreal on Saturday evening, police used pepper spray and arrested three men. The incident occurred during a party near the “Peel Paddock.”
A video circulating on social media shows at least three police officers using what appears to be an incapacitating agent.
Details of the Incident
According to the police service in the city of Montreal (SPVM), the events unfolded around 10 p.m. on Peel Street, close to the intersection with rue Sainte-Catherine.
“The police used strength to repel the threat and control the situation, so ther is Cayenne pepper which was sprayed,”
Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the SPVM, stated, “We had police officers who were present on Peel for the right cohabitation. At one point, there is a fact that was brought against one of the agents.”
The Laval Police Service (SPL) was also part of the patrol team.
Mr. brabant added that when police attempted to approach an individual for arrest, people began throwing bottles at them.
“The police used strength to repel the threat and control the situation, so there is Cayenne pepper which was sprayed,” said the spokesperson.
Arrests Made
Two men, aged 34 and 39, were arrested for assault against a police officer. A third man, aged 42, was arrested for hindering the work of the police.
