A cargo plane from the airline Royal Jordanian made an unscheduled landing in Düsseldorf due to an engine failure. According to federal police, the plane was on its way from Maastricht in the Netherlands to Amman in Jordan. Shortly after takeoff, a bird strike occurred, a spokesman said.
It was said that the engine was significantly damaged. The federal police spoke of the incident as a so-called safety landing.
It was not initially known what the machine had loaded.
