The inauguration of the new physiotherapy office and the dental clinic, Friday December 5, marked an important step for the Madeleine-Brès Health Center and, more broadly, for the care offering at Capdenac-Gare. The ceremony brought together elected officials, health professionals and institutional partners, all highlighting a now very positive dynamic. Mayor Stéphane Bérard recalled the history of the project, born in a context of medical desertification: “In 2012, ten doctors practiced here. At the end of 2021, there were only three. In the meantime, we had acted in January 2015 with the creation of a health project, obtaining the MSP label and the purchase of a building in the city center. Maintaining access to care was at this price”. Four years after the opening of the Health Center, new questions arise with the gradual arrival of new professionals. It was therefore necessary to carry out rearrangements and it was in the old tourist office, just opposite the MSP, that the new physiotherapy practice was set up. Thierry Vitrac, now in a duo with Junior Frangot, did not hide his satisfaction: leaving his old premises was not easy, but he is delighted to work with a young colleague with whom “the exchange is permanent and inspiring”. Both now have a completely redesigned space for their practice. On the third floor of the MSP, the opening of the dental tray constitutes the other major advance. Elise Vermande’s office, staffed by an assistant and a secretary, benefits from very modern facilities. Two rooms each accommodate an operational chair, and a third will be able to support future development. The practitioner, in her speech, wanted to “welcome the complete commitment of the town hall and its technical services in favor of access to care and the maintenance of a local health offer for all residents”. A second dental surgeon is expected at the beginning of 2026, which would bring the number of dental surgeons in the railway city to six. The mayor also recalled the richness of the team today gathered within the MSP: two chiropodists, a clinical psychologist, three nurses, two physiotherapists, a dentist, a family therapist and four general practitioners, including two newcomers, Camille Dubois and Pierre de Clermont Gallerande. “We can only rejoice at the arrival of new practitioners in view of the national context. Let us hope that the dynamic continues in the months and years to come so that all the inhabitants of the town can have a treating doctor” confides a resident. On behalf of Grand-Figeac, Vincent Labarthe recalled the major investment of 500,000 euros made in support of the same effort by the City: “Health is the subject that concerns the French the most. Grand-Figeac has made it a priority”, recalling that Grand-Figeac employs nine doctors within the health center. Note the presence of departmental councilors Cathy Mouly and Bertrand Cavalerie as well as Michèle Buessinger from the neighboring canton. The work planned for 2026, in particular the redevelopment of reception, will once again reflect this desire to adapt the MSP to the needs of residents.
