CaixaBank Increases Foreign Trade Financing by 8.7% in First Half of 2025

CaixaBank has significantly increased its financing for SMEs and large companies involved in foreign trade, solidifying its position as a key player in the sector.
CaixaBank is reinforcing its commitment too international trade by providing substantial financial support to businesses. The bank has granted 8.3 billion in credits to SMEs and large companies in the first semester of 2025, marking an 8.7% increase compared to the previous year.This funding has been distributed across more than 106,000 operations, focusing on imports, exports, and other international business ventures.
While the total volume is less than the 11,000 million granted in 2022, CaixaBank holds significant market share, including 27.4% in import credits, 30.4% in export credits,and over 30% in guarantees issued and received. These figures, released on Wednesday, highlight the bank’s prominent role in supporting foreign trade within Spain.
To further support international operations, CaixaBank offers a range of financial services tailored to both SMEs “that are starting their export activities” and large companies that “face more complex international projects.”
The bank provides specialized advice through its foreign trade division and offers financial products designed to manage import and export transactions remotely,streamlining operations and reducing administrative burdens.
Available tools include an export collection advance service accessible via the caixabanknow digital platform.
CaixaBank leverages its extensive network,operating in 156 markets with connections to over 1,600 correspondent banks,enabling it to offer global financial services to companies engaged in international activities. Looking ahead to the second semester of 2025, the bank aims to “continue to analyze new opportunities to” expand its services “and expand its coverage in this area.”
Partnership with CESCE to Enhance Services

CaixaBank has partnered with the Spanish export credit insurance company (CESCE) to facilitate customer access to supply credit policies on behalf of the State. This insurance covers non-payment risks, including political risks, in export operations.The agreement aims to enable companies to finance international contracts, receiving advance payments while foreign buyers pay in installments.
Furthermore, CaixaBank’s 2025-2027 strategy includes a new sustainability plan, committing to mobilize up to 100,000 million euros in financing linked to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. This initiative supports projects that contribute to a more sustainable economy.
