The former Minister of Finance, the PSD deputy Adrian Câciu, declared on Thursday, after the fuel price increase, against the background of the conflict in the Middle East, that if the head of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chiriţoiu, and ANPC do not do their job in the next week, they will have to be fired, pointing out that the price at the pump should not be higher than 8 lei, including VAT, and it is already 8.5 lei.
“If the price of fuel, and I see that no one is doing anything, enters into the specula from the market, today you have 1.2 billion more in VAT. If it continues to increase, you will have 10 billion lei more in VAT”, said the former Minister of Finance, in the show România Politică from Prima News.
He specified that the head of the Competition Council, which should deal with fuel prices in the market, has been appointed since the time of Traian Băsescu and is from the right. “The Ministry of Economy deals with fuels. I see that it is silent with extraordinary elegance”, said Câciu and about the USR Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău.
“If Chiriţoiu and the ANPC don’t do their job in the next week, they will have to be dismissed, that’s my opinion. (..) It’s not possible, it’s not allowed what’s happening, it’s speculation and they should clearly intervene in this market. A man who lived through this period, lived through this moment, tells you that I had 9.4 at the pump, the fuel. Remember the night when everyone went to buy gas and diesel? We put everyone on fire at that moment and caught everyone speculating (..) and they dropped the price to 8.5 when the war came from Ukraine”, said Adrian Câciu, according to News.ro.
He mentioned that if it is not done, that VAT goes somewhere and it should go to vulnerable people or in education, where we have a low budget.
The former Minister of Finance announced that next week he will make some calls to the ministers, to the Competition Council, having the information from the market and knowing exactly what happened to the price.
“The price should not be higher, at the pump, than 8 lei, including VAT, and it is already 8.5”, he added.
