The Bavarian Youth Exchange Foundation enables vocational schools I to III in Kempten to continue to have international exchanges with Burton-upon-Trent.
Kempten – Burton-upon-Trent is a charming town on the River Trent in the east of Staffordshire in England. All major English breweries were once located here. Twelve exchange students from state vocational schools I to III in Kempten will soon have the opportunity to get to know the city better. The students from the areas of child care, media technology and commercial professions take part in the Goethe-Institut’s “Exchange2Change” exchange program. In return, twelve students from Burton-upon-Trent are currently visiting the Allgäu metropolis to take part in lessons at the state vocational schools and to take company tours.
After Brexit: Foundation steps in for exchange programs
Wolfgang Schwarzenberger from the management of the Youth Exchange Bavaria Foundation explains: “The student exchange in Kempten is a unique format. Great Britain can no longer participate in the EU funding programs due to Brexit. Our foundation is now financing this exchange and will try to link these exchanges back to funding programs such as Erasmus+ from the moment there are new association agreements with the UK.”
