A significant fire broke out earlier today in Bucharest Noi, specifically at a building formerly associated with the Masca Theater.The structure, located near Bazilescu Park, was undergoing rehabilitation when the incident occurred. According to initial reports, the fire originated on the first floor, rapidly spreading across approximately 700 square meters of a showroom space.

Masca Theater Director Assures Public: Theater Operations Unaffected

Mihai Mălaimare, the director of the Masca Theater, addressed the situation via social media, clarifying that the fire did not impact the theater’s current location or operations. He emphasized that the building in question had been transferred to Sector 1 authorities approximately a decade ago for rehabilitation purposes. Mălaimare expressed concern over the slow pace of the renovation adn alluded to potential safety issues during the construction process.

There was a fire at the building in Bucharest Noi, which was the Masca Theater about ten years ago, but which was transferred to the Sector I who rehabilitates it at a snail rhythm and with workers from the Pyromanian Legion. Twelve fire engines and three aerial platforms were utilized to combat the blaze and prevent its further spread. As of the latest reports, the fire is contained, and authorities are investigating the cause.

The building was being rehabilitated. It is operated with 12 extinguishing vehicles, 3 self -strucks.

Fortunately, ISU BIF has confirmed that no injuries have been reported in connection with the fire. The building was reportedly unoccupied at the time of the incident due to the ongoing rehabilitation work.
