Bruce Brown Rejects Lakers: Why He Said No

by Archynetys News Desk

This past summer has surely been the most promising for the Nuggets since they became champions in 2023. Far from the now classic weakening of the squad, they have made several moves to incorporate pieces of the caliber of Cameron Johnson, Jonas Valanciunas and Bruce Brown. Well, the arrival of the latter, who was in the roster that he got the ring, was forged between offers from other teams like the Los Angeles Lakers.

That is the information that Bennett Durando handles The Denver Post. Brown received interest from the aforementioned Lakers and also from the Phoenix Suns, but as soon as he learned that Colorado wanted him back he did not even consider the possibility of getting more money elsewhere.

«I don’t care how much they offer me. If I get something else or not, I don’t care. I’m simply going to return to Denver because I think it’s perfect for me,” he tells the aforementioned media.

Adaptation, familiarity… Brown has opted for what he understands as a ‘return home’ after two seasons in which he has spent time with the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Pelicans without settling in any of those places; yes, pocketing the 45 million dollars that Indianapolis signed him at the time as a free agent.

Despite not being comfortable in the projects he has been through since 2023, Brown has always given optimal performance on the hardwood; so much so that in the 2024-25 season he averaged 8.3 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. In Denver they are delighted to recover not just those statistics, but a versatility that gave them so much in the past.

Bruce Brown and the memory of the ring

For the Nuggets, getting Brown back means having one of those pieces that made it possible to get the first ring in their history. And we are not exaggerating. It is obvious that Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray were the leaders, but it is no less important than the guard It emerged as a piece that gave them defensive consistency and that also ended up being indecipherable for rivals. In the Western Conference finals he averaged 12 points and 4 rebounds against the Lakers. We don’t know if history will repeat itself, but it sounds good to have him back in Colorado.
