Brother Saves Brother From Crocodile Attack | Heroic Rescue

A heroic action was carried out by an older brother, in order to save his younger sibling, he was willing to wrestle with an attacking crocodile. They finally managed to survive.

A man named La Rano (38) in Central Buton Regency (Buteng), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) was attacked by a crocodile while setting a net in the sea. The victim managed to save himself after being helped by his older brother who dared to fight against the crocodile.

“At that time the victim was rolling the net, suddenly screamed,” said Mawasangka Police Chief Iptu Kamaludin in his statement, Thursday (8/1/2026).

The incident of being attacked by a crocodile occurred in the waters of Kanapa-napa Village, Mawasangka District, Buteng, Wednesday (7/1) at around 22.30 WITA. The victim suffered a number of injuries as a result of being attacked by a crocodile.

“The victim had injuries to his left hand, right stomach, right waist, palm and right elbow,” he explained.

Initially, the victim and his brother went out to sea at around 18.00 WITA carrying a fishing net. Both of them net fish in shallow seas.

“The two of them went down to catch fish in the shallow sea at a depth of about half a meter,” he explained.

Kamaludin said that when the two of them were about to lift the net, the victim shouted for help. The victim’s brother then came to him and found him bitten by a crocodile.

“My brother immediately went to the victim’s location and saw the victim being bitten by a crocodile,” he said.

Suddenly the victim’s older brother immediately took a machete and tried to save his younger brother. The crocodile was hit by a machete in the stomach several times until it escaped the bite.

“So the crocodile’s stomach was cut using a machete several times until it fell off. After that, the victim was evacuated to the community health center,” he added.

He added that the victim is currently still undergoing intensive treatment due to the serious injuries he suffered. “The victim is still being treated for his injuries,” he concluded.
