The Rincopath Association has celebrated its third La Rinconada Solidarity Hearts Marathon in which 60 people participated, in an afternoon of solidarity and unity. This event has the collaboration of the areas of Citizen Participation and Seniors and Equality
La Rinconada enjoys a strong and supportive third sector and has once again demonstrated it. The Rincopath Association has held its third Marathon of Solidarity Hearts at the 20 de Julio Active Participation Center. An event that had the participation of 60 people, as well as the Amama association, and the presence of the delegates of Citizen Participation and Seniors and Equality, Trinidad Romera and Noelia Ramírez.
The event, which reaches its third edition, consists of the making of heart-shaped cushions that Rincopath gives to Amama so that she can distribute them in hospitals to women who have undergone breast cancer surgery.
As explained by the president of Rincopath, Chari Ventura, all of this has prior work carried out by the group, which consists of cutting the hearts, sewing them and putting each filling, which has to be 170 grams, into individual bags. Once in the marathon, the participants fill the cushions and write a message of affection that reaches the recipient. These pillows, in addition to their emotional value, fulfill a practical function, as they help relieve postoperative discomfort, facilitate rest and become a symbol of support in the recovery process.
“The objective is to raise awareness among people about this disease. In addition, with Amama, a talk on breast cancer prevention is offered. In this edition we have made 140 cushions,” says Chari Ventura.
This activity has a subsidy from the Citizen Participation area, “we are very happy to support this type of solidarity initiatives and see that there are young people who this year also wanted to participate,” said Trinidad Romera, during the event.
For her part, Noelia Ramírez has announced that the City Council will soon launch the free mammogram program again through a mobile unit for the age range that is not within those stipulated by the SAS.
