Exciting Discovery: Diabetes Drug Shows Potential to Slow Parkinsons Disease Progression

Parkinson’s Disease: New Drug Could Slow Progression

Researchers have made an exciting discovery in the search for effective treatments for Parkinson’s disease. A drug similar to those used in “skinny jabs” has shown promise in slowing the progression of symptoms associated with the condition.

Parkinson’s disease is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide, causing problems with movement, balance, and memory, among other effects. Currently, there is no known cure for Parkinson’s, and available treatments only help manage the symptoms.

However, in recent years, there has been growing excitement over glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1R agonists) as a possible treatment for Parkinson’s disease. One such drug, exenatide, originally used to treat type 2 diabetes, was found to slow the progression of motor symptoms in a small group of people with Parkinson’s.

Now, researchers have found that another GLP-1R agonist, lixisenatide, may have a similar effect. This supports the theory that Parkinson’s disease could be associated with insulin resistance in the brain.

The study, conducted in France, randomly assigned 156 people recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s into two groups. Both groups took their usual Parkinson’s medication, but one group also received a daily injection of lixisenatide,

Assessing Healthcare Effectiveness Through Avoidable Mortality: A Study on the Colombian Health System.

Healthcare-avoidable mortality is an indicator that allows countries to evaluate the effectiveness of their health systems. Its measurement is key to identifying what failed and what must be corrected to reduce those deaths that, if it were not for these deficiencies, would never have occurred.

To this end, researchers from the National Health Observatory (ONS) of the National Institute of Health (INS) analyzed the performance of the Colombian health system during the last ten years before the pandemic, to establish which interventions were missing or should have been strengthened to prevent 364,113 Colombians from dying from causes that the health system could intervene.

According to the study, of the total number of people who died from diseases preventable by the health system, the highest proportions corresponded to ischemic heart disease (31.5%), neonatal disorders (13.4%), cerebrovascular disease (12.8%), and other diseases like breast cancer, colon and rectal cancer, cervical cancer, chronic kidney disease, tuberculosis, and digestive diseases.

The data reported in the INS report titled ‘When death is avoidable’, revealed that out of 2,160,686 deaths in Colombia between 2010-2019, 16.8% (364 thousand) were due to difficulties in access or quality of the health system. This percentage was higher in municipalities with less access to health services,

New Discovery Reveals Underlying Cause of Asthma Damage, Opening Doors for Prevention

Understanding the Hidden Causes of Asthma: A New Breakthrough

“This epithelial lining is the body’s first line of defense against things like infections and yet it is getting damaged during asthma attacks,” says lead researcher Prof Jody Rosenblatt. An alarming revelation that promises a paradigm shift in asthma treatment.

UK scientists from Kings College London have recently uncovered a groundbreaking new cause behind much of the damage caused by asthma. The study, published in the Science journal, highlights how cells lining the airways are being squeezed to destruction during an attack, leading to long-term inflammation, wound healing complications, and recurring infections.

For years, this underlying damage has gone unnoticed by medical professionals around the world. However, the findings suggest that preventing this damage altogether might be more effective than managing its aftermath. Professor Jody Rosenblatt shares her hope that targeting these underlying causes can break the vicious cycle of harm caused by asthma attacks.

Asthma is a condition where sensitive airways become inflamed or swollen due to triggers such as pollen, pets, or exercise. The resulting symptoms include coughing, wheezing and breathlessness. While current drugs and inhalers effectively reduce inflammation and keep airways open to manage these symptoms temporarily—repeated attacks can lead to irreversible scarring and narrowing of the airways over time.

If you spend a lot of time in front of the computer, there is a possibility that this translates into a higher risk of erectile dysfunction Computer use seems linked to this condition

Nowadays a sedentary life is not strange. On many occasions we spend hours in front of the computer because we need it to work and then in our free time because we want to play a video game or watch movies quietly. This leads us to a sedentary lifestyle that could now be linked to erectile dysfunction in men. A quite worrying phenomenon and one that a new study would have linked to the fact that we spend a lot of time still in the same positions as always and, especially, to the use of the computer for recreational use and for regular use.

Let’s see what the problems rooted in this could be and how it would add to other types of problems such as the effect of screens on our eyes.

The dangers of a sedentary lifestyle

In the future, people may have screens directly in their eyes, but in the meantime, the amount of time we could spend in front of a computer remains a big problem.

Navigating Depression and Family Pressures: A Psychiatrists Perspective on Marriage and Mental Health

Psychiatry News | Choi Kang-rok, specialist in psychiatry

History) I have been suffering from depression for some time and have received counseling and take medication, but my condition has not improved significantly. I feel helpless, I can’t even cry anymore and everything bothers me, but I’m an employee and I’m busy, so I live alone and do the bare minimum. I’m tired of human relationships and feel like I have no future. I used to vent about getting hurt, but I don’t do that anymore, but the frustration remains.

It’s been over a year since the end of my last relationship, to the point that there was even talk of marriage. As a result, I was so tired of the emotional effort and emotional labor that I no longer wanted to meet or meet new people. It is difficult to imagine what kind of repertoire it will lead to, so it is difficult and annoying to continue the relationship. So I didn’t want to get married or date.

But now that I’m in my late 20s, my parents started pressuring me to date a man.. They force you into a position and also force you to get married and get pregnant by shouting that it’s a must.

The Ministry of Health called on parents 2024-04-04 21:52:12

“Not only in summer or winter, but also in all seasons, healthy and proper nutrition of children is a must.”

Publika.az reports that this was said by pediatrician Akbar Guliyev, a specialist of the Ministry of Health, while talking about children’s nutrition in the summer months.

He said that it is necessary to pay attention to the conditions and order of food storage in the summer months: “Because in the summer season, the storage conditions of some foods, especially “fast food”, creamy foods, and mushroom products, should be carefully considered. These foods should not be given to children.”

“We always say that eating too much is harmful to the body. It is normal to have a lack of appetite due to the hot weather during the summer months. Therefore, preference should be given to easily digestible foods, which include yogurt, buttermilk, vegetables and protein foods. It is also natural to lose weight during the summer season. Pathological weight loss does not mean an indication of any disease. It just depends on the season. There is no need to give children additional appetite enhancers or vitamins”, A. Guliyev added.

The expert reminded that babies should be fed breast milk without any additional food in the first 6 months: “Sometimes parents are in a hurry to give meat to their children starting from 6-7 months.
